Rumors regarding the unveiling of the new Samsung Galaxy Prevail, a new no-contract Android based smartphone, circulated for a couple of days before the event. Hours before the event, Boost Mobile leaked the info on their official site, through a posted teaser page. Since the event has passed, we now bring you news about this new handset from Samsung, called Galaxy Prevail. Price and specs to follow.

A leaked document from Sprint’s Prepaid Group surfaced a few days ago and the guys at Engadget were kind enough to share it. This document consisted of all the updates and devices coming to Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. In it, Samsung Galaxy Prevail stands under the spotlight, marked as “Coming Soon” to Boost Mobile. But all that is in the past now, the Samsung Galaxy Prevail now stands brave alongside Blackberry Curve 8530 and Motorola i1 on the carrier’s official site.

Samsung Prevail is designed to be a low-end smartphone, keeping balance between an accessible and a multimedia device. The smartphone appears to be in the same class as the Samsung Galaxy Gio, with an extra CDMA radio and a downgraded shooter. Prevail will be the first CDMA Android smartphone at Boost Mobile.

The price of the Samsung Galaxy Prevail will be $179.99, with no taxes, and $199 after taxes. Boost Mobile will sell this device on a “shrinkage”plan, which means it will start at $50/month and after 6 months the plan reaches $45 and so on. After one year and a half, the plan will reach $35. Even if $50 sounds a little to expensive and competitive this “shrinking” method of payment sound pretty good. The plan will consist of unlimited data, texts and voice.

This new device from Samsung will surely not stand in the way of titans like HTC 4G, iPhone 4 or his older brother Galaxy S 2. The Galaxy Prevail is a low-end smartphone, which will bring the Android experience at a very affordable price and in the same time being a very capable phone. It was designed to embrace a popular platform at more cheaper plans than other smartphones
