match prediction semi final India v Pakistan Cricket World Cup 2011

match prediction semi final India v Pakistan Cricket World Cup 2011 : Pakistan are set to meet West Indies in the first quarter-final of ICC World Cup 2011 game at Mirpur, on Wednesday, March 23, 2011.
This will be followed on March 24, by the game between India and Australia, at Ahmedabad. The third quarter-final will be contested by New Zealand and South Africa at Mirpur on March 25, while Sri Lanka will host England in the fourth, at Colombo, on March 26.

The teams winning the third and fourth quarter-finals will meet at Colombo, in the first semi-final, due to be held on Wednesday, March 29. The other semi-final, scheduled to be held at Mohali, on March 30, will feature the winners of the first two quarter-finals.

Before this world cup began, teams like England who were fatigued after the tour of Australia found fault with the prolonged schedule of the world cup as planned.

The ICC defended its scheduling which it said was made to ensure that teams like Pakistan and India did not exit the tournament early, an ostensible reason for the failure of the 2007 event held in the West Indies. To this end, many minnow teams like Holland, Ireland, Canada and Kenya had been included.

Many also expressed doubts about the future of the 50 over game. The increasing popularity of T20, following the damp squib that the 2007 ODI World Cup proved to be, only served to increase the conviction among followers of the game that ODIs were living on borrowed time. Fans needed instant gratification of the T20 kind, and not the prolonged agony of the 50-over game.

The current world cup has turned that conviction on its head. After 42 of 49 games have been played, fans’ appetites have been whetted. England’s loss to Ireland, their tied game against India, their defeat of South Africa, India’s loss to South Africa, Pakistan’s defeat of Sri Lanka and Australia, and their loss to New Zealand have all been thrillers that have served to make this world cup an event to remember and arguably the most entertaining ever.

Fans are looking forward to the quarter-finals, and this according to me, is what they can expect to see, beyond, in the semi-finals. Here are my predictions about how the quarter-finals will play out:

QF # 1: Pakistan Vs West Indies: Pakistan to win
QF # 2: India Vs Australia: India to win
QF # 3: South Africa Vs New Zealand: South Africa to win
QF # 4: Sri Lanka Vs England: Sri Lanka to win

The first semi-final on March 29, at Colombo, will feature a game between hosts Sri Lanka and South Africa.

The second, on March 30, at Mohali will be arguably the biggest match of the tournament featuring India versus Pakistan.
