Japan Announces Emergency Budget : The Japanese government earmarked almost $50 billion in emergency spending on Friday for the first step in the country’s largest reconstruction effort since World War II.

The $48.5 billion budget is likely to be followed by more spending, as Japan takes on the gargantuan task of rebuilding the section of its Pacific coastline ravaged by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Parliament is expected to pass the budget next week. Read More....
