Maruti Swift 2011 coming in India in Q3 at expected price Rs. 4.5 lac- Rs. 6.5 lac ; Get ready to see a redesigned new Maruti Swift 2011 in 3rd quarter of 2011, if newspaper reports are to be believed. Maruti, country’s leading automobile will be manufacturing the Swift 2011 at its Manesar facility very soon. The new car with redesigned interior and exterior was recently seen test driving around capital roads.Maruti aims to pep up its otherwise boring looking Swift and launch the new car with a whole new look. Even the interiors have been revamped to pit the car against its strongest rival in the segment, the Hyundai i10. Maruti has not come up with the pricing details of the Swift 2011 model but the car is expected to come with a price tag ranging between Rs. 4.5 lac and Rs. 6.5 lac for various versions.
We are yet to hear about the engine that will power the new Swift 2011 but we expect the new hatchback to be powered by Fiat’s 1.3 L multi jet diesel engine and a 1.2 L K series engine with variable valve timing. A petrol engine is also expected with 4-speed automatic transmission in the new Swift. Internationally launched at the Paris Motor Show in October 2010, India’s awaits the launch of the new Swift when the car was spotted a couple of times and analysts expect the automaker to deliver it in May this year.
Exterior wise one may not find a major leap in the Swift 2011 from its predecessor except the headlamp and the tail lamp which looks more edgy and sharper now. Visual modifications are very mild and one may notice that the new hatchback is now bigger and its dimension have been increased by 90 mm in length, 5mm in width and 10 mm in height. The car now has a stretched wheelbase that has been extended by 50mm with a roof that is not as sloppy as the current model.
But interior wise the new car going to be lot classier with excellent finish in design. The hatchback now comes with enhanced interiors with chunky steering wheel, sporty dials, European design dashboard and instrument panel. The car now comes with a switch gear that looks classier and lends an expensive feel to the car.
The Swift is will probably come with Fiat’s 1.3 liter multi jet diesel engine sans the turbo obviously and Maruti’s 1.2 liter K series engine with variable valve timing know-how. Even though these are powerful enough engines (the 1.3 liter is the same one we see in the SX4) we hope Maruti can also keep a separate lineup with the turbocharged option. Oh how glorious would that be! This is quite unlikely though as same engines in the SX4 and the Swift may seriously undermine the sales of the SX4.
